Recycled material
Recycled packaging is an important contributing factor to a circular economy. We use different types of plastic to adapt our products to the customer's needs in the best way. Here you will find information about the recycled materials we work with and which materials are suitable for which purpose. All to help you find the right packaging for your product.
Post industrial recycle (PIR)
PIR material consists of production residues that do not become finished packaging, such as non-compliant products, color changes during production, complaints, and similar waste streams. This material is reprocessed into granules and can be used to produce new packaging. However, there are some limitations in terms of color selection, and the material is no longer considered food-grade for PP and PE due to limited traceability.
Post consumer recycle (PCR)
The PCR material is plastic that has been collected from consumers. This plastic is sorted, reprocessed into granules and processed into new plastic. Here, there are also restrictions on what colors can be offered and the plastic is no longer food-grade in PP and PE. There are quite a few variants and blends of this material, so it is important to experiment to find the mix that best suits each product.
Recycled Polyethylene (rPE)
rPE is a general term we use for PE that has been collected from consumers, reprocessed into granules and turned into new plastic. Today, rPE is not food-grade, and it often has a distinct smell of detergent or perfume. It is possible to get transparent rPE, but it is quite milky in tone.
Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (rPET)
rPET is the name for PET that has been collected from consumers, reprocessed into granules and turned into new plastic. rPET can be food-grade as it has very good traceability thanks to the widespread deposit system of soda and mineral water bottles. Transparent rPET has a greyish tint that is not so visible once the product is filled.
